2.1 Jaliscos is an exhibition featuring the work of contemporary painters from Jalisco. This intergenerational project maps artists between the ages of 22 and 50 who were born in Jalisco and continue to live and work in the state, or who form part of what we might call the “Jaliscan diaspora.”

During the 1950s, Mathias Goeritz, together with Victor Arauz, organized a painting exhibition in Guadalajara that brought together several artists from Jalisco working from a “pictorial” perspective; this exhibition was titled 2.1 Jaliscos.

Now, revisiting that curatorial exercise, we present 2.1 Jaliscos, an intergenerational project that maps artists between 22 and 50 years old who were born in Jalisco and continue to live and work in the state, or who form part of what we might call the “Jaliscan diaspora,” in order to, recalling the premise of Goeritz and Arauz, showcase the pictorial work of the State of Jalisco, though in this case from the perspective of our own contemporaneity.
